Located in Foz do Iguaçu, the aquarium invites visitors to follow the path of the waters, exploring rivers, seas, and oceans across three floors of pure immersion. More than just an aquarium, AquaFoz is a space for environmental education, scientific research, and enchantment—where waters meet, life flourishes.

Iguaçu River

The Rio Iguaçu Gallery features three representations of sections of the river, highlighting the diversity of species found in each region:

Upper Iguaçu River

Species: rock catfish, Iguaçu lambari, toad catfish, spotted mandi, rosette armored catfish, among others.

Middle Iguaçu River

Species: armored catfish, trahira (Hoplias malabaricus), mandi-do-iguaçu (Hoplias malabaricus), pintado catfish, jacundá catfish, açaí-canga (Açaí palm), and other fish characteristic of the region.

Lower Iguaçu River

Species: Iguazu catfish, pacu, piapara, piau, flamenguinho, curimba, pintado, camboja and many others.

Paraná River

Important freshwater species are present, such as dourado, jaú, piau-verdadeiro, ray-de-água-doce, curimbatá, cascudo-abacaxi, piraputanga, mandi-amarelo, cachara, piava, cará, among other emblematic species.

Oceanic

Here, visitors can observe nurse sharks, zebra sharks, whitetip reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, blacktip groupers, wrasse, speckled jacks, jack crevalle, green moray eels, groupers, spotted eagle rays, and other marine species.

Reptiles

In an outdoor setting, visitors can find species such as tortoises, iguanas, tegu lizards, boas, periquitamboia (a type of tree frog), caninana (a type of turtle), freshwater turtles, and other reptiles from the Brazilian fauna.

Flooded Forest

In a true Amazonian immersion, visitors can encounter animals such as pirarucu, tucunaré, spotted ray, cascudo, tambaqui, pirarara, black piranha, dourado, pacu, pintado, matrinxã, and other Amazonian species.

Freshwater Crew

Various freshwater species, such as Amazonian cichlids, red piranha, tetras, peacock bass, pirarara, aracu, caparari, zebrinha, jundiá, piramboia, aruana, among others.
